Description of the research topic:

The objective of the doctoral studies is the development of synthetic methodologies and their application to the synthesis of families of such organic molecules that carry an importance in drug discovery. The objective of drug discovery is the targeted intervention into the working of biological systems, leading to the desired outcome. The finetuning of the interaction between the targeted protein and the effector small organic molecule requires the ability to efficiently synthesize any desired target molecule. The doctoral research includes the study and development of state-of-the-art synthetic transformations with a biological objective behind. The list of synthetically useful methodologies includes transition metal catalysed tranfromations, biocatalytical transformation, photoredox catalysis, electrochemical transformations, reactions in flow apparatus, and asymmetric synthesis. Besides the target oriented synthetic work the doctoral studies also offer the possibility to study the mechanistic aspects of the used transformations.
