Description of the research topic:
The service life of concrete and reinforced concrete structures is adversely affected by cracks that open beyond the permissible limits. These can be caused by load or other effects related to technological faults.
The aim of the research is to study the waterproofing and self-healing effects of concrete produced with a mixture of cement, active ingredients and admixtures, and to develop related test methods. Crack-bridging crystallisation and self-healing not only have a positive effect on the waterproofing performance of concrete, but also on the durability of the material. In order to verify the effectiveness of the system, in addition to standard mechanical and watertightness tests, non-destructive structural tests and special material tests (e.g. ultrasonic tests, seismic and impedance tomography, electron microscopy and neutron imaging, etc.) will be carried out to analyse the crystallisation processes
