Description of the research topic:

rstanding the climate and meteorology phenomena in urban areas are crucial since the most of the world’s population lives in settlements. There are various climate and meteorology models with the possibility to model the urban climate processes. These models have different complexity, scale and aim. Also the applied input parameters are different, as well as the utilized urban surface classification. The aim of this PhD toppic is to (i) revise the different urban climate models, (ii) test their performance in different aspects (thermal environment, precipitation, technical aspects), (iii) develop a concept of a new urban climate model. For the success of this research the applicant have to be experienced in some of the following fields: data processing of global and regional climate and weather model outputs, GIS techniques, working in Linux environment (supercomputers) and programing (e.g. Python, Fortran, Shell). Applicant must have English language certification.
