Description of the research topic:

The study of theoretical and methodological issues in metonymy research based on larger, general-purpose, as well as smaller, specialized corpora with a special emphasis on the pragmatic functions of metonymy, on its discourse-shaping role and on its creative, novel realizations. A further focus of the research program might be the analysis of multimodal metonymy in various discourse areas.
