Description of the research topic:
In approximately the last 150-200 years, humanity had such a critical impact on the Earth’s ecosystems that in the geological sciences a new epoch called Antropocene has been proposed. The unsustainability of the mankind’s ecological footprint is obvious. This is because the Earth’s ecosystem has limits, and a few of these planetary boundaries have already been violated (e.g. climate change, biodiversity loss). In order to decrease the impact of the humanity on Earth’s ecosystem numerous international, reginal and national regulation were and are still being created continuously. The doctoral research can be focused on such general issues as environmental and energy regulation how can be improved from the point of view of ecological sustainability, or the UN sustainable development goals; the inner coherency of the regulation in force, the weak and strong regulatory solutions which are able to limit human consumption patterns, those benefits and disadvantages can also be studied. The selected topic can be concentrated also on such specific issues, like the regulation of energy consumption, renewable energy sources, climate protection tools, or the regulatory reforms. As the research methodology the interdisciplinary aspect is suggested. Beside other traditional research methods the problem exploration method is also crucial, especially in the identification and comparison of best practices of different regions, countries.
