Description of the research topic:
Polyurethanes are used in a range of various products, such as rigid and flexible foams as well as adhesives. The physical and chemical properties of polyurethanes are typically modulated by additives. In this project, a combination of experimental and in silico methods will be used to optimize the use additives to enhance the physical and mechanical properties of polyurethanes. The aim will be to maintain or exceed desirable mechanical properties, further understand the relationship between the atomistic structure and the physical properties of polyurethanes, and to reduce any negative effects on health and the environment.
