One of the most significant methodical breakthroughs of recent years has been the development of organoid cultures, which is biologically one of the most relevant models for clarifying the pathomechanism of some of the diseases. In this research project, we intend to study the role of ion transport processes in the development of esophageal diseases, such as Barrett esophagus or esophageal cancer, using organoids derived from the esophagus of mice and human.
