Description of the research topic:
Inflammatory reactions play a role in maintaining homeostasis; among others, fighting infections. On the other hand, inflammation might be harmful in the case of autoimmune of allergic reactions. Inflammatory tissue environment may also contribute to malignant diseases. Exploiting our expertise in immunology and disease models, our research group studies the mechanisms of different inflammatory disorders and facultative pathogen infections. Our main research tools are in vitro tissue culture and experimental mouse models. Thanks to our collaborations, we have access to an array of natural and synthetic drug candidates that we test in the experimental models set up during the project.
