Description of the research topic:
"Hand prostheses nowadays, both in mechanical fineness and in the bandwidth of the control interface, are left behind the capabilities of the actual human hand. In many cases , the difficult, non-intuitive control results in prosthesis abandonment. Instead of a robotic hand structure, a prosthesis that takes into account the structural and functional properties of the human hand could help reproduce the original, complex fine movements. The high bandwidth requirement of the detailed control can be reduced by automating specific gestures, their implementation and maintenance can be simplified with machine learning.
The main focus of the research is the simulation and control of an anatomically correct hand model with complex, deep reinforcement learning-based algorithms. The goal is to provide effective and intuitive control in a model that reflects the characteristics of the human hand. We also expect reduction in the convergence time of the training algorithms."
