Description of the research topic:

The spectacular learning abilities of the brain are realized by a variety of processes involving neuronal and synaptic plasticity. A large amount of experimental data regarding these processes is currently available; however, due to the large number and complexity of the relevant interactions, proper understanding requires theoretical models and computer simulations. Our aim is to develop detailed models of neurons, synapses, and networks, which will allow us to examine the mechanisms of cortical learning in a unified framework.
