Description of the research topic:
Skeletal muscle is very amenable for studying differentiation, adaptation and regeneration. Our research group has developed several experimental models in the past twenty years. Recently our main interest is focused on a phenomenon that transfecting a few myonuclei in a small number of muscle fibres will increase growth of the entire regenerating muscle. So far the role of calcium metabolism and the Ras pathway have been shown, our aim is to identify further players in this novel process (first described by our group).
