Location of studies (in Hungarian): University of Pannonia, Bio-Environmental and Chemical Engineering Research Center
Abbreviation of location of studies: PE

Description of the research topic:

Tribology is defined as the study of friction, wear and lubrication, and design of bearings, the
science of interacting surfaces in relative motion.
In the case of automotive industry lubricants and tribology plays a significant part in the
design, and application of bearings. Friction test should be applied to characterize the
different lubricants, for example, silicone or mineral oil. The main goal is to find a suitable
lubricant, which can extend the lifetime of the bearings extensively. The temperature increase
is one of the most critical parameters in case of a bearing, which changes based on the system,
and the characteristics of the lubricant.
Computer-aided process engineering tools can be an excellent way to enhance the product
development process, and also can support the experimental design, and the constructional
design of measurement devices as well. In particular, with the use of finite element analysis,
different lubricants can be characterized.
The applicant's tasks are the following:
 Development in measurement methodology for the characterization of different
lubricants.
 Characterize the hydrocarbons utilizing applicability in automotive applications.
 Develop mathematical models to describe the physical system, validate the models,
and use it for the calculation of optimal product and equipment characteristics.
 Dissemination of the results by presenting international conferences, and publication
in high-quality journals (Q1)
 Writing the dissertation.
