Description of the research topic:
The use of antimicrobial agents are common in the hospital setting, due to the hospitalisation of patients with moderate/severe community acquired infection or due to hospital acquired infections. As hospitals are considered as epicentres of antibacterial resistance, rationalising antimicrobial use in hospitals are extremely important. Monitoring the use of antimicrobials and resistance patterns are important prerequisites to set up evidence based interventions. With the help of drug utilization tools the effectiveness of interventions can be also evaluated
