Description of the research topic:

A special case of high energy proton-proton collisions, when the two protons remain intact, but they create a few other particles in the interaction, while they change a color-neutral object. Such central exclusive particle production can be described by the Regge theory, involving Pomeron-Pomeron interactions. The central system created In the few GeV mass range can decay into vector meson pairs, then those decay into pairs of charged pions or kaons, which can be measured experimentally. The mass and properties of the central system (resonance) can be determined experimentally and can be compared to the bound "glueball" state only containing gluons, predicted by lattice QCD. The task of the student will be carrying out the experimental data analysis and its interpretation.
