Description of the research topic:
The aim of the proposed PhD work is to study the effects of certain mycotoxins (such as ochratoxin A, T-2 toxin, DON), commonly delivering health concerns in poultry farming, on newly developed three dimensional (3D) hepatic cell cultures of chicken origin, being sustainable for longer time, hence serving as proper models of chronic mycotoxin exposure. The effects of mycotoxins on the cellular inflammatory and stress response as well as on the biotransformation of xenobiotics are planned to be investigated, possibly providing a new insight towards the pathomechanisms of mycotoxicoses in poultry.
