Description of the research topic:
Our recent results solved a problem unresolved for a quarter of a century, namely the presence of sharp waves though to be important in memory formation in the neocortex. We identified cellular correlates for neocortical sharp waves and continue this line of research in behaving human patients and in animal models using in house developed tools for in vivo cellular resolution recordings.
