Description of the research topic:

The common goal of inventory models is to find the optimum considering the risks of over- and understocking, i.e. to gain the highest possible level of customer service with the lowest costs. In order to reach customer satisfaction, the task of operations function is to provide the proper quality and quantity of supply. Despite the fact that the original inventory model is more than hundred years old, there are still many open questions to be answered within the more than dozen types of model extensions.
