Description of the research topic:

The changes in language and literary taste starting in the late 19th century received a new impetus with the establishment of the Turkish Republic. The modernization program implemented by Atatürk that inluded a reform of the language and the script, totally reshaped everyday life in Turkey. The research program aims at mapping how these changes influenced literary creativity and the use of language in 20th century Turkish literature.
