Description of the research topic:

The aim of the research is to treat synthetic and real industrial, dairy wastewaters, and by-products of various origins and compositions using modified dynamic micro- and ultrafiltration membranes. The intensification of membrane processes relates to the improvement of their efficiency by increasing membrane permeate fluxes and retention values and reducing the resistances. For this reason, the possibility of modifying the active surface of commercially available membranes by different colloidal particles and their incorporation into the bulk membrane material will be considered and investigated. Furthermore, the feasibility of photocatalytic membrane reactors for the efficient decrease of the chemical oxygen demand of dairy wastewaters will be studied.
