Description of the research topic:
This research topic deals with the following questions: why do some territories perform systematically better than others? How can local and regional development policies boost economic activity and enhance socio-economic conditions in lagging regions?
Those research ideas are welcomed here which deal with the mechanisms of regional development, theoretical basis, rules and aspects of regional policy, or focus on the interplay between processes in the economic and social space, or dwell on the pro and cons of existing policy tools, planning design, key actors (local and regional governments and institutions), management and financing and evaluate their evolution. The main territorial focus of the planned research should be Europe, European Union (EU), or Hungary.
