Description of the research topic:

Cities always played dominant role in the European and Hungarian urban development. In contrast of the rural manoralism cities embodied social and legal freedom. With their own governance and democratically elected institutions they had important effect on social development. Opportunity is given in this topic to examine the industrial and commercial development of cities; in addition, to analyse the connection among cities and their market areas.
