Description of the research topic:

Heat losses due to surface structures and heat bridges represent variable proportions in the transmission heat loss of buildings having conventional or modern thermal insulated structures. In the energy certification of nearly zero energy buildings, the heat loss associated with heat bridges shall be calculated by a detailed method according to the legal obligation. The compliance of the standard for detailed calculation can be strongly criticised. Therefore, for correct calculation, the analysis of heat bridges by finite element simulation is required, which needs disproportionately large amount of invested work in certification practice. It seems necessary to develop a method of calculation, which provides correct results in the calculation of heat losses of heat bridges using a reasonably simplified method.
