Abbreviation of location of studies: BME

Description of the research topic:

The proposed research aims at the discovery, theoretical interpretation and application of novel chemical sensing concepts based primarily chemically modified nanoparticles and solid-state nanopores /nanocavities for the quantitative determination of viruses, biomacromolecules (proteins, nucleic acids), and ions. The main focus is on the development of ultrasensitive biosensing platforms based on the proposed nanostructures in combination with electrochemical and optical transducers to ultimately reach even molecule/species detection. This research effort will be assisted by novel synthetic receptors, such as DNA aptamers with custom-tailored affinity and molecularly imprinted polymers. The project will involve integration in lab-on-a-chip platforms.
