Description of the research topic:
Palladium-catalysed carbonylations such as alkoxy-, aryloxy- and aminocarbonylation reactions of iodoalkenes available from enolizable ketones, as well as iodoaromatics including N-heterocycles are planned. Among others, iodo- and diiodo-triazols, iodooxazoles and -thiazoles synthesised in ring-closure reactions will be used as substrates. Carbon monoxide and its surrogate, paraformaldehyde are applied as carbonyl source. The application of environmentally benign solvents such as ionic liquids and biomass-based lactones will be studied. The possibility of single and double carbon monoxide insertion and the mechanistic issues of palladium-catalysed reactions are also investigated.
