Description of the research topic:

The researcher has to concentrate his attention on two fundamental problems of text linguistics: thematic progression and anaphora. He shall describe the distribution of topics and comments in different types of French (literary and non-literary) texts as well as the functioning of intra-textual reference in the broad sense. The investigation will contribute to a clearer typology of texts, and provide insights in the psycholinguistic mechanisms that create transphrastic units in the discourse.
