Description of the research topic:

Intriguing spatiotemporal patterns can develop from the interaction of reactions and transport processes (e.g. diffusion and convection). External flow can also be utilized to create precipitate structures in a controlled manner. The presence of a concentration gradient maintained by the flow may lead to the enrichment of the thermodynamically unstable crystalline form or may be used to select the required polymorph which is essential for the pharmaceutical and building industry. Our aim is to characterize the evolving structures and to study the interaction between convection and chemical reactions by analyzing the structure of the crystals and membranes formed.
