Description of the research topic:
Sociopragmatics deals with the relationship between socio-cultural factors and linguistic strategies of interpersonal communication. It provides relevant insights and applications in the area of everyday and intercultural communication. Important, related fields of sociopragmatic research are inter/crosscultural pragmatics, which deals with describing and explaining differences in language use across languages and cultures, linguistics im/politeness and its theories and approaches, conversation analysis and its applications, and interlanguage pragmatics, which deals with the development of foreign/second language pragmatic competence.
