Zoltán Bajmócy
The process aspect of local development

THESIS TOPIC PROPOSAL

Institute: University of Szeged
economics
Doctoral School in Economics

Thesis supervisor: Zoltán Bajmócy
Location of studies (in Hungarian): University of Szeged
Abbreviation of location of studies: SZTE

Description of the research topic:

The topic is based on the understanding that the results and the process of local development are equally important and intertwined. The freedom of taking part in the development process as active agents, and the way of creating (adequate) knowledge are among the most important issues of local development. Therefore, the proposed research topic focuses on the “how” of development (instead of the “what” question). During the PhD research process this broad topic can be specified alongside several dimensions, e.g.: certain specific local policies (economic development, poverty alleviation, urban sustainability), citizen/representative or expert/lay relation.
