Description of the research topic:

Traditional deterministic optimal structural design considers load cases as fixed parameters and is therefore not suitable for handling uncertainty in load cases. Our goal is to develop a structural design concept and design method that guarantees that the optimal structure provides a safe solution for all elements of the load space defined by uncertain parameters. In the field of structural optimization, the management of load uncertainty is a novel problem that is a real challenge due to the diversity of more or less unexplored approaches. The complexity of the task requires the development of modern, generally applicable optimization procedures and adequate design and evaluation methods.
The purpose of the doctoral thesis is twofold:
a) Development of an integrated optimization algorithm for handling load uncertainty, which includes at
least the analysis of the effects on the structure, the method of behavioral design, the optimization and
evaluation procedure. Part of the research work is to determine the range of effects and aspects to be
taken into account during the optimization, to explore the modeling possibilities.
b) Based on the results of the study, to propose a new structure design concept, with which the
structures can be implemented efficiently and economically, taking into account the load uncertainty
