Description of the research topic:

This research topic is mainly focused on the atomic level structural mechanisms of function of G protein-coupled receptors. Besides studying the structural dynamics of GPCRs, structure-activity relationships of GPCR ligands are investigated. In addition, interactions between GPCRs and their signal transduction partners are studied, as well as the effect of the composition of the surrounding lipid membrane bilayer. Deeper understanding of the structural mechanism of function of this protein family would promote the application of synthetic or natural agents for the exogenous modulation of numerous intracellular processes, implicated in various diseases
