Description of the research topic:

Many neuropsychiatric disorders are coupled with altered, pathologic oscillations at the neuronal network levels, which prevents proper information processing. While the effect of pharmaceutical therapies are not suitable to match with and to compensate the fine-scale disturbances of network oscillations, some stimulation modalities based on biophysicial interactions (e.g. electric, electromagnetic and/or ultrasonic stimulations) are capable to induce interference with the diseased rhythms. This project aims to predict and interfere with the diseased brain activity in animal models of neuropsychiatric disorders, and attempts to restore the proper network synchrony characteristic to healthy functional ensembles.
