Description of the research topic:

Tobacco smoking is the leading preventable risk factor of cardiovascular diseases among Hungarian people. In Eastern European countries, Roma population having a higher prevalence rate of smoking than in the General Hungarian population. Genetic background and characteristics among the General Hungarian and Roma population still unknown regarding smoking behaviors. Our research aims to examine genetic susceptibility and other possible determinants associated to smoking behaviors among general Hungarian and Roma populations.
