Description of the research topic:
Triassic dolomites of the Buda Hills have been suffered heavy brecciation and pulverization on large areas. Connecting to these friable zones various shaped cliffs and erosional forms can be observed, together with mineralization. Two main streams can be identified within the previous investigations explaining these processes. One of them underlies the role of hydrothermal activity, the other one emphasizes surface (or near-surface) weathering effects. Based on mapping of the alteration zones and combinating the field observations with published laboratory data these processes can be elucidated and fit into the evolution of the Buda Hills.
