Description of the research topic:
Establishing the theoretical foundation of research on contemporary military geography (modern strategic geography and geostrategy) and the study of its processes within the history of science and culture are important tasks of military geography. However, its forerunner was the discipline of political geography represented by Friedrich Ratzel, Karl Haushofer, and Oskar Ritter von Niedermayer. In addition, the collection, organization, and interpretation of enduring geopolitical theses related to the military have also been crucial to the development of modern military geography. According to the scientific approach, military geography (strategic geography) eventually crosses over into geopolitics (geostrategy) while it also impacts other fields of social geography; thus the comparative study of the theoretical issues of modern military geography (strategic geography) and geopolitics (geostrategy) affects issues of modern social geography as well.
