Description of the research topic:
It is essential to know in detailed the natural climate changes and fluctuations in the Earth history for understanding recent climatic problems. The most famous climate changes were in the Pleistocene called widespread 'Ice Ages'. At that time, under changed climatic conditions significantly different morphological processes occurred and new landforms were developed. These forms give us a chance to understand the Pleistocene surface development and to understand prehistorical environmental changes in global and regional scale. Though the study of the well known periglacial forms in the Carpathian Basin has significant and relevant professional past, the order in space and time of processes formed them are still not clarified in detailed. There are significantly different results on the nature and variability of the climate. Traditional investigations related to new methods (GPR, OSL, SEM and GIS) can give new results regarding permafrost research in Hungary.
