Description of the research topic:
We are investigating the connections between the ascending tectofugal system and the basal ganglia. In the anatomical experiments, we are investigating with the application of anterograde and retrograde tracers the new connections within this system. In our electrophysiological experiments, we are preparing high density, high-resolution multiscale recordings from the rat, cat and monkey brain with 64 channel electrodes developed for this purpose. We are investigating the effects of visual, auditory and multisensory information and the goal directed (reach) arm movements on the dynamic of the local and global neuronal networks in the caudate nucleus and the superior colliculus.
