Description of the research topic:
The primary processes of photosynthesis and artificial biomimetic systems include absorption of light by antenna protein/pigment complexes and migration of electronic excitation energy to the specially organized pigment complex, the reaction center protein. The charge separation here initiates short and long range electron transfer through chain of redox intermediates. The research work of the PhD student will be focused on the measurement of the rates and energetic properties of the electron transfer in bacterial photosynthesis and biomimetic model systems.
Required language skills: English Further requirements: Prerequisites: Firm background in experimental physics, physical chemistry and reaction kinetics together with some experiences in optical spectroscopy.
