Description of the research topic:

Endophytic fungi have great importance due to their abilities to produce secondary metabolites possessing specific biological effects. This research work aims mainly the investigation of secondary metabolites, which contains expectedly novel components or possessing novel biological effects. During the PhD work, the mass spectrometric investigations and identifications of the metabolites as well as their biological assays will be carried out. The study involves both the microbiological (fermentations) and separation science (extractions, chromatographical and mass spectrometric) activities.
