Description of the research topic:

The quality of human-animal relations in dairy cattle farms is an overlooked area, though it is proved that rough handling has production consequences. We aim to measure the human-animal relations in Hungarian dairy cattle farms, mainly the quality of handling and its consequences. Welfare Quality and other protocols will be used during the study. We aim to measure the possibilities for improving the human-animal relations.

Cows, as group living animals establish hierarchy within their groups. External factors can affect the rank order among the cows.
The second topic of out theme is to measure the hierarchy in dairy cow and calf groups in Hungarian farms, and the possible changes in the rank due to several external factors (e.g. heat stress, diseases, setup of the barns, etc)
