Description of the research topic:

The most important feature of the herpesviruses is the development of latency after the primary infection. The virus can be reactivated periodically and is excreted in various secretions. Chlamydia trachomatis infection is the most commonly reported bacterial infection in sexually transmitted diseases, which is asymptomatic in 70-90% of infected women, but it can cause ascending infection leading to tubal damage, ectopic pregnancy and infertility. When the viral and bacterial pathogens occur simultaneously, they can affect each other's replication, the immune response developed to them, and the severity of the disease. Within this subject, these interactions can be studied in in vitro and in vivo systems.
