Description of the research topic:
The anthropogenic degradation processes of geoecosystems call for different forms of theoretical and applied landscape ecological analyses. The assessment of actual and potential land use can be helped by the investigations of vulnerability of the landscapes and the sustainability of land use. The research activities cover the analysis of landscape structure and functioning, together with forming land use and land management recommendations. An important approach of landscape research nowadays is the mapping and modelling of ecosystem services, which is a possible method of the doctoral project. The research can be carried out in different landscape types (e.g. karsts, floodplains, urban ecosystems).
