Description of the research topic:

Traditional techniques for geological mapping heavily depend on access to the area of interest. In many regions, this access is limited due to natural conditions, like hash terrain or severe climate, or due to human conditions, e.g. political instability. With the help of remote sensing techniques, areas can be observed without being in contact with them. Combining remotely sensed data and GIS may provide opportunities to create geological maps of regions that would otherwise be too dangerous to map.
