Description of the research topic:
The aim of the research is to describe, from a linguistic point of view, the culture of primarily public debate in Spanish-speaking communities, optionally as contrasted with other languages. The research can address the linguistic devices of persuasion, the use of different discussion techniques, the way in which conversational turns are taken and held, and the morphosyntactic, lexical, and prosodic features that play a role in these aspects.
