Description of the research topic:
Drugs reducing the release or the effect of calcitonin gene-related peptide produced by a significant population of trigeminal nociceptors play central role in migraine therapy. However, knowledge on the mechanism of action of these drugs is still limited. Therefore, the present project is aimed at studying different pathophysiological conditions by using functional and morphological methods in animal models that alter trigeminal nociceptive mechanisms, release of neuropeptides from afferents and may have relevance to migraine.
