Description of the research topic:
The main objective is to study traditional knowledge of herders and farmers in Mongolia, Iran or in other Asian countries by interviewing and participatory field work, especially focusing on knowledge of habitats and wild plant species, locals’ understanding of ecological processes and the impact of their land-use practices on vegetation, the potential uses of this knowledge in conservation management, and the potential benefits and harms of national level agricultural and conservation regulations on local knowledge. Required characteristics: experience in working with local communities (interviewing, participatory field work, knowledge co-production); and experience in field survey methods of ecology and vegetation science.
