Description of the research topic:

In the recent years diode laser based photoacoustics became a routinely applied tool in many application fields such as the oil and natural gas industry for monitoring the concentration of various components such as H2S, H2O, CO2, NH3 etc. However there are components such as N2 or H2, which are infrared-inactive and therefore they cannot be detected with a conventional photoacoustic system. For these components it is possible to build a photoacoustic detection system operated with a stimulated Raman scattering generation based light source. However these systems have to be carefully optimised in order to ensure the completely selective detection of the targeted components. For this complete selectiveness novel solutions have to be developed and verified. The proposed research work of the candidate includes the design, construction and application of a stimulated Raman scattering generation based light source for the measurement of the concentration of IR inactive components and their isotopes.
