Description of the research topic:
Heavy metal contamination of the workplace and general environment is primarily of human origin and can have several forms (e.g., airborne nanoparticles, water and soil contamination). Within an exposed organism, the especial sensitivity of the nervous system results from its specific sensitivity (ion channels, oxidative stress) and its major influence on the quality of human life. In the experimental work, done by subacute or subchronic treatment of rats with some physiochemical form (solution, nanosuspension, etc.), the functional alterations of the nervous system are examined at the level of electrophysiological and behavioral alterations. The results may contribute to the improvement of occupational and environmental protective measures.
