Description of the research topic:
Propofol-based deep sedation during colonoscopy is a well-established method to reduce pain and discomfort and to improve patience adherence with low complication rate. However, safety and tolerability of propofol-based sedation during colonoscopy has not been monitored in diabetic patients previously. The aim of our research is to compare the risk of hypoglycemia and arrhytmia during colonoscopy with and without sedation in healthy individuals and patients with type 1 diabetes.
