Description of the research topic:

Changes in lifestyle and diet have resulted in an increase in the development of many chronic diseases, such as obesity and diabetes. Obesity is closely associated with insulin resistance and with a low grade state of inflammation. Free fatty acids have emerged as a major link between obesity, insulin resistance and inflammation. The research is carried out within the RECOOP (Regional Cooperation for Health, Science and Technology Association), in the framework of international cooperation. The aim of our research is to determine the correlation of lipid profile and its predictability in identifying insulin resistance. The determination of fatty acids by gas chromatography (GC) is useful tool to understand the importance of dietary fat for health.
