Location of studies (in Hungarian): Role of cytokines and chemokines in chlamydial diseases
Abbreviation of location of studies: OMMI

Description of the research topic:

Chlamydiae are intracellular bacteria with characteristic biphasic lifecycle. Chlamydia infection is followed by an intense inflammatory response in which the innate lymphocytes (ILC1-3) are actively involved from the onset of the disease. The role of ILCs is the production of cytokines, initiation of the immune response preceding the adaptive immune response. Similarly to the traditional Th lymphocytes, they can be classified into three groups according to cytokine pattern produced by them. The role of ILCs has not been studied in chlamydia infections. Within this topic, the role of ILCs in early immune response, their phenotypes and specificity can be investigated in mice infected with chlamydia.
